MOSCOW, Pa. (AP) – Police say a northeastern Pennsylvania man briefly stole two of his brother’s vehicles on the day of their grandmother’s funeral home viewing.

Online court records don’t list an attorney for 20-year-old Kenneth Lyle, of Kunkletown, who faces a preliminary hearing July 31 on charges of theft and unauthorized use of a vehicle.

The (Scranton) Times-Tribune reports Friday that Lyle stole his brother’s car while the family was at the viewing Wednesday morning in Spring Brook Township, Lackawanna County. A short time later, Lyle allegedly went to a residence and drove his brother’s pickup truck away.

State police say Lyle eventually surrendered to the Pocono Mountain Regional Police, where he knows a detective. Lyle later told police he is bipolar, wasn’t taking his medication, and was distraught over his grandmother’s death because his father had also died recently.
