Delores Policz Jochynek Stebella

Delores Policz Jochynek Stebella, 88, of Washington, joined her sweetheart in heaven Tuesday, February 14, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born August 29, 1934, in Mather, a daughter of the late George and Julia Urban Policz.

She was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Washington under Pastor Rob Grewe.

Her love was spending time with her family at holiday gatherings, baking Christmas cookies and decorating Easter eggs with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed playing Rummikub with her friends along with other activities at her apartment building penthouse.

Delores enjoyed golf, bowling, dart ball, and polka dancing. Her passion was working in her flower beds along with attending flower shows at Phipps Conservatory and Longwood Gardens.

She had her own catering business and taught cake decorating for over 10 years at Special Occasion.

On October 21, 1956, she married the love of her life, Joseph Jochynek.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters, Kathy Nicholson (Bill) and Valerie Hassinger (Alan); six grandchildren, Brea Robinson (Lenny), Gia Fitzpatrick (Jim), Robert Interval II, Nelson Hassinger (Crystal), JoRae Hassinger and Jen Nicholson; along with great-grandchildren, Elijah Robinson, Mila Robinson, Alexa Robinson, Henry Hassinger, Harrison Hassinger and Salima Interval; sisters, Betty Haligowski, Priscilla Brown and Georgiann Bogucki; brothers, Mathew Policz, Richard Policz and Frank Policz; several nieces and nephews and dear friends; and her granddogs, Kiwi, Sophie and Camp.

Delores was preceded by death by her husbands, Joseph Jochynek and George Stebella; brothers, George, Louis, Emil and Andy Policz; and sisters, Helen Orie, Dorothy Jacobs and Irene Kachersky.

The family would like to thank Concordia Hospice, the Washington Hospital and Dr. Robert Koschik for all their compassion and care along with all those who sent their love and prayers.

Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, February 17, in the Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 18, with Pastor Robert Grewe officiating. Interment will follow in North Ten Mile Cemetery, Lone Pine.
