Salary board approves deputy warden

WAYNESBURG – Greene County Salary Board Thursday made it official by approving the promotion of Michael Kraus to deputy warden at the Greene County Jail at an annual salary of $43,843 a year.
Kraus, who has been serving in that capacity since July 28, replaces Susan Haxton, who moved from the area.
In other matters pertaining to the jail, the board hired six casual corrections officers. They are H. Joseph Barner, Richard Keys, Brian Bundy, Davida Romanakis, Thomas Jordan and Tina Smith. Each will be paid $12.77 an hour, limited to 29 hours a week. Also, Matthew Thomas was rehired as a casual corrections officer at the same pay rate.
The board approved the promotion of Nathan Russian and Matthew Thomas to regular part-time corrections officers at $14.02 an hour.
The resignations of Jonathan Adams, Ben Chylinski and Myrle Perry as corrections officers were accepted.
The board promoted Aaron Ankrom to director of domestic relations at a salary of $51,403; hired William Kozich as a regular full-time law clerk at a salary of $31,622; temporarily transferred Cassie Teegarden to assistant director of tax claim to work two days a week until a replacement is trained in economic development.
Under human services, the board ended the temporary pay increase of Karen Bennett, human services executive director. Her salary rate will return to $76,539 per year. Also, Shanna Yourchik was promoted to drug and alcohol prevention specialist trainee at $20.15 an hour.
