Around 75 firefighters responded to a house fire in Long Branch Thursday, according to on-scene officials. Responding fire departments included Roscoe, Stockdale, California, Bentleyville, Denbo Vesta Six in Low Hill and Washington Township. Emergency responders from Rostraver West Newton EMS were also on scene.

Departments got a call around 4:05 p.m. for a fire on Crow Street. Crews hauled tankers down narrow streets to have water on hand for the incident, blocking the area off from traffic.

“There were no fire hydrants so we had to bring our tankers,” Roscoe fire chief Jason Jobes said. “It was a tight squeeze.”

Jobes said his department was responding to another emergency when the call came in. He added that no one was hurt and the home owners were out of the house when the fire began.

Jobes said significant amounts of smoke rose from the home, but no visible flames came from the structure.

The smoldering quickly spread to the second floor of the house, but firefighters were quickly able to suppress the majority of it.

Firefighters were still investigating the cause, but they believe an electrical malfunction in the basement sparked the incident.
