Judith Ann Hazlett Starsinic
Judith Ann Hazlett Starsinic passed away peacefully on Saturday August 13, 2022.
Born in Waynesburg, daughter of the late Dr. Frank D. Hazlett M. D. and late Ruth Gates Hazlett. She lived in East Washington, since she was six years old and graduated from Mount De Chantal Academy in Wheeling, W. Va. She then attended Morris Harvey College in Charleston, West Va. where she met her husband Francis Xavier “Frank” Starsinic. They married on August 27, 1960 in Washington, in a double wedding ceremony with her sister, Ellen Hazlett Danich. Their wedding was the last one when the church was named Second Presbyterian church and now Church of the Covenant.
Judy was a loving wife and mother and was pre-deceased by her husband Frank in 2001. She is survived by her sons, Frank Starsinic Jr (Nicole); Mark Starsinic; and daughter, Carolyn Jean Starsinic; grandchildren, Mary Shook-Starsinic Elkarfi – and Dylan Starsinic; great-granddaughter and love of her life Kenza Elkarfi.
Also surviving are her four sisters, Ellen Hazlett Danich (John), The Villages, Fla., Carolyn Hazlett Passmore; Janet Hazlett Pani of Sardenia, Italy and Edna Hazlett Rowland of Mooresville, N.C. In addition are cousins Walter Arnold, Richard Gates and many nieces and nephews.
Judy was a long-time administrative assistant in Encinitas, Calif. where she was an avid tennis player organizing many tournaments. Tennis was her favorite sport and she played on courts both in Encinitas and in Carolina Beach, N.C. She leaves many friends at Sierra Country Club in Davis, Calif.
Along with tennis she was also a fine horse back rider. Judy was our family historian and genealogy researcher. She and her cousin the late Louise McClenathan of Washington, would do research together for years on the Hazlett family.
She was also a member of the Roseville, Calif. DAR.
Judy and her husband Frank both traveled extensively in the USA and throughout Europe during her lifetime. She leaves a legacy of love for family and friends. She will be greatly missed by many and especially her close sister Carolyn of NAPA, Calif. with whom were many lively visits throughout her life in California.
