Nancy Jean Manrow Keene

Nancy Jean Manrow Keene, 79, of Fort Myers, Fla., formerly of Washington, passed away July 23, 2013, with her husband of 31 years, Milton J. Keene, and stepdaughter, Dana Keene Johnson, by her side, guided by the angels of hospice to her next life.

She was born November 29, 1933, in Washington, a daughter of the late Charles L. Manrow and Laura E. Manrow.

Mrs. Keene was a 1951 graduate of Trinity High School, where she was head majorette of the Trinity marching band. She also attended Wooster College for a short time.

Both in grade school and high school, she was very outgoing and easily made friends with whom she remained close.

Mrs. Keene enjoyed dancing and was in several musical productions. She liked to entertain in her home often and had a flair for decorating. She always wore the latest fashions and especially loved her shoes.

On June 11, 1982, she married Milton J. Keene, her favorite dance partner, who survives. They had 31 wonderful years and especially enjoyed their summer home in Marblehead and their winter home in Fort Myers.

She loved animals and had a few over the years, but their Yorkie, Buzzie, stole her heart forever.

Surviving are two daughters, Brenda Dagg Saunders (Bernie Froats) and Kimberly Dagg Horner (Danny Horner) both of Washington; two granddaughters, Damara Saunders Van Beneden (William) of Kentucky and Desiré Saunders Krawchyk (Josh) of Carnegie; three great-grandchildren, Will, Sara and Elizabeth Van Beneden; four stepchildren, Debbie Keene Smith (Randy) of West Virginia, Dana Keene Johnson (John) of Texas, Lori Keene of Pittsburgh and Neil Keene of Pittsburgh; six stepgrandchildren, Brittany Smith of West Virginia, Ryan Johnson (Linley), Caylee Johnson, Noah Johnson and Aubree Johnson of Texas and Kamron Keene of Pittsburgh; and four stepgreat-grandchildren, Jager and Jett Smith of West Virginia and Toby and Reagon Johnson of Texas.

Also surviving are a sister-in-law Betty McNeely Manrow of Washington, with whom she shared a special relationship, and a niece, Shelie Manrow Teele (James) of Florida.

Deceased are brother Ralph Freeman Manrow and nephew Charles Brian Manrow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hope Hospice, 2430 Diplomat Parkway East, Cape Coral, FL 33909.

Friends will be received from 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday, August 22, in Warco-Falvo Funeral Home Inc., Wilson at East Katherine avenues, Washington, S.
