Roy Darrell Mounts “Darrell”, 60, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 17, 2022, in his home in Vienna, Va. after a lengthy hospital stay resulting from various health conditions related in part to celiac disease.
Darrell was under hospice care as well as support from his spouse, friends, and family and died a week after returning home.
Darrell is survived by his loving spouse of 34 years, Julie Heyward Mounts; brother, Dennis L. Mounts; uncle, Robert (Bob) Knisely; cousins, Susan Knisely Nadeau and Anne Knisely Zeter; nieces, Crystal Mounts Breese, Amber Mounts Lenkey, Mary McCord, Rachel McCord, Alexandra Heyward, Addison Heyward; and nephew, Sean McCord; as well as many great nieces, nephews, in-laws, and loyal friends.
Darrell is predeceased by his mother Katherine Jean Knisely Mounts, father Royal “Roy” Detiker Mounts, sister Elizabeth Mounts McCord, aunt Claire Knisely, and his beloved French Bulldogs Buffy and Xena.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Vienna, Va., on Darrell’s 61st birthday, March 13, 2023. Please contact Julie for more information.
