Katherine E. “Katie” O’Bryan Plants, 81, of Washington, died Friday, August 2, 2013, in Southmont of Presbyterian SeniorCare, Washington.

She was born October 7, 1931, in Washington, a daughter of Randle and Ethel Mae Iams Glendenning.

She worked for the former Gaylord’s store and was a secretary for Lightning Express Co.

Mrs. Plants was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 175 of Washington for more than 20 years and the Independent Club.

Surviving are two daughters, Kathleen R. (Fred) Woods and Karen F. O’Bryan, both of Washington; three brothers, John N., James A. and Harry (Bonnie) Glendenning, all of Washington; three sisters, Geraldine Pryor, Ethel (John) Molinaro and Leona L. Zitkovich, all of Washington; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are her husbands, Franklin O’Bryan and Harold W. Plants; two sons, Frank D. “Bitter” and James A. “Stubby” O’Bryan; a granddaughter, Kaitlin O’Bryan; two brothers, Randy and David Glendenning; and two sisters, Anna Marie Fulton and Martha Jean Provance.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Hummell & Jones Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, Thomas W. Hummell, supervisor, Douglas M. Jones, funeral director, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 6. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
