John Leroy Knight
John Leroy “Jack” Knight, 78, of Canonsburg, passed away Thursday, April 27, 2023, in Canonsburg Hospital. He was born January 4, 1945, in Canonsburg, a son of the late William L. and Mary Elsie Mersino Knight.
Mr. Knight lived his life in Canonsburg, where he was a graduate of Canon-McMillan High School and had been a member of Chartiers Hill United Presbyterian Church.
Jack proudly served with the United States Army in Vietnam, where he earned a Purple Heart.
He had been a crane operator at the former McGraw Edison and Cooper Industries in Canonsburg and prior to his retirement, Jack was employed with Home Depot in the electrical department and the Pro Desk.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #553 in Strabane, the Bears Club in Meadowlands, and the Labor Temple.
Jack enjoyed going to his hunting camp, fishing and visiting the casino.
His wife, Cheryl Kramer Knight, passed away December 25, 2012.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his children, Lori A. Seaman, Michelle R. Knight, John W. (Dani) Knight and Melissa Knight; stepchildren, Jason Kramer and Erin Jericho; brother, Gene (Anna) Knight; and sister, Lisa Knight; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his wife and parents, is his brother, Robert “Bob” Knight, who passed away September 13, 2021.
At Mr. Knights request all services and interment in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies will be private and have been entrusted into the care of Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra LFD, owner / supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120.
