CHESTER (AP) – Gunfire erupted outside a church in Chester during services, hitting nearly a half-dozen vehicles. No one was injured.

WPVI-TV reports the shooting broke out around 4 p.m. Sunday. The Tabernacle Transformation congregation had been renting out the sanctuary from Grace Church of God in Christ.

Officials say that as the service was wrapping up, gunfire erupted outside, hitting at least five vehicles in the parking lot.

The Rev. Jose Ortiz says it appears the vehicles were not the intended target and that the gunman may have been chasing another man who was running through the parking lot. Police were investigating.
