Ray Shipe

Ray Shipe, 57, of Washington, formerly of Amity, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2013, in Washington Hospital’s critical care unit.
He was born December 9, 1955, in Waynesburg, a son of the late Albert P. and Mildred Kinkle Shipe.
Mr. Shipe attended Trinity High School and vocational-tech school in Canonsburg, where he attained a certificate in welding.
He was employed by Blacktop Paving in Washington and T.A. Robinson Asphalt of Bridgeville.
Mr. Shipe was a member of Mt. Herman Baptist Church of Amity and a life member of Annawana Sports Club.
On December 20, 1985, he married Rebecca Wright Porter Shipe, who survives.
Also surviving are a stepson, James (Lynette) Porter Jr. of Washington; five stepdaughters, Brenda Porter of Amity, Rhonda (Victor) Whitfield of Claysville, Julee (Bob) Efaw of Washington, Nicole Porter Whipkey of Washington and Angela Porter of Washington; two brothers, Paul (Veronica) Shipe of Indiana and Ross Shipe of Maryland; two sisters, Joan Marasco of Africa and Susan (Rob) Robbins of Ohio; nine stepgrandchildren, Daniel Porter, Ryan Porter, Amber Porter, James Porter III, Zachary Whitfield, Erik Whitfield, Emily Efaw, Justin Ritter and Jace Ritter; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Washington Release Time Bible Program, Banetown Road, Washington, PA 15301.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no public visitation. Burial will be private.
