Lea A. Work, 50, of Washington, died Thursday, June 15, 2023, in her home. She was born July 17, 1972, in Washington, a daughter of the late Franklin “Ike” Joseph Hickman and Linda Devolia Hickman.

She attended Washington High School. Lea attended Arise Christian Fellowship in Washington. She enjoyed helping with vacation Bible school, especially the little class. She loved her grandchildren, anything outdoors with her husband John, fishing, boating, quad and buggy rides. She also loved her animals, especially her dogs and cats.

On September 6, 1996, she married John M. Work, with whom she has shared 26 years of marriage.

Surviving, in addition to the love of her life, are children, Kayla Jo Bledsoe (Jazirat), Hope Marie Work (Ryan), John Martin Work Jr. (Virginia); two sisters, Tina Marie Burr, Amy Lynn Work; grandchildren, Elora, Jazirat Jr., Kynleigh, Ja’Kaivion, Maria, Bobby, Elliott “Beans”, and one on the way. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Shae Lynn Adams, Anystin Davis, Angel, Phillip Jr., and Raymond Work.

Deceased, in addition to her parents, are her brother-in-law, Phillip Work.

Family and friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, in the Nichol Funeral Home, 1873 East Maiden Street, Washington, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 21, with Pastor Tim Lindsay officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Brethren Cemetery, wake to follow at church.
