NEW CASTLE (AP) – A Western Pennsylvania prosecutor said four teenage boys are being prosecuted in juvenile court for allegedly fondling a female classmate as she slept on a bus returning from a field trip to New York.
Lawrence County District Attorney Joshua Lamancusa said the charges of simple assault and harassment were filed after consulting with the girl’s family. The boy’s names aren’t being released because most juvenile court cases are confidential.
Lamancusa said the incident happened in April when more than 50 ninth-graders were returning overnight from the trip.
Lamancusa said, “Some boys made poor decisions and it escalated.” The students involved were all 14 or 15.
Neshannock School District Superintendent Mary Todora said the boys have already received unspecified school discipline, saying the matter is now in the hands of the legal system.
