WWII veteran, U.S. Steel mechanic

Gregor Peterson, 89, of Arden, died July 11, 2013.

He was born October 6, 1923, in South Park, a son of Larry H. and Pauline Solaviov Peterson.

Mr. Peterson was husband of 23 years to Marjorie S. Peterson, who died June 11, 2012.

He was a veteran of World War II, a member of International Union of Operating Engineers since 1942, and had worked for American Bridge as a master mechanic and later for U.S. Steel.

Mr. Peterson shot a hole-in-one at Dogwood Hills Golf June 22, 2003.

He was intelligent, passionate in his beliefs, creative and musical, fair and honest, and was a superhero to his daughter.

Surviving are a daughter, Marsha Lee Giebas (Edward) of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; a grandson, Mark Ortega of Harpers Ferry; a sister-in-law, Katherine Peterson; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are son Mark Peterson, and brothers Harry L., Thomas, John and David Peterson.

Interment will be next to his son in Jefferson Memorial Park, Pleasant Hills.
