Canonsburg police make heroin arrest

A Donora woman was arrested Wednesday by Canonsburg police after she allegedly sold heroin to a confidential informant.

Shayla Marie Crews, 18, of 519 McCrea Ave., is accused of selling the informant heroin in a parking lot on East Pike Street. The informant was kept under surveillance until Crews arrived.

The informant got into Crews’ vehicle and when she got out, gave police a prearranged signal the deal had been completed. A traffic stop was conducted of the car on East Pike. Crews was taken into custody.

The informant handed over 15 stamp bags of heroin she had reportedly purchased from Crews, who told police she had given the person she met the heroin as a gift and that no money exchanged hands. Police did find Crews with the money used by the informant to make the purchase.

Crews was arraigned before District Judge David Mark on charges of possession and possession with intent to deliver heroin. She was placed in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond.
