McMURRAY – A Peters Township man was placed in Washington County Jail Sunday night after he allegedly pointed a loaded shotgun at police when officers arrived at his home following a dispute with his father.
Derek Gledhill, 19, of 339 Justabout Road, was arraigned before District Judge Larry Hopkins and jailed on $50,000 bond on two counts of simple assault and one count each of aggravated assault on a police officer, terroristic threats, reckless endangerment and criminal mischief filed by Peters police.
Police were called at 7:15 p.m. Sunday and said they found Gledhill in the yard holding a shotgun and yelling. Police said he put the weapon down and was cooperative with officers during his arrest.
Gledhill was charged after police determined he had fought with his father, Shane Gledhill, inside the residence and had thrown and damaged other weapons.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Hopkins’ office, police found furniture damaged inside the house and the gun safe open. Shane Gledhill left the house and called for police from another location.
