Perhaps someone can please explain to me why the Board of Supervisors in North Strabane Township voted to “donate” a used Ford Tundra pickup truck to The Meadows Racetrack & Casino to assist The Meadows with “security.”

Maybe it’s just me, but I am having difficulty understanding why an organization such as The Meadows, which has consistently shown annual gross and net earnings in the millions of dollars, needs a “donation” from North Strabane Township.

My question to supervisors is a simple one: Would not the donation of the used truck been put to better use if said vehicle were to have been donated to a local charitable, nonprofit organization, which then in turn could have sold the vehicle and used the proceeds from the sale to fund their charitable community endeavors?
