McGuffey School District will consider authorizing a $7 million bond that would be used to make improvements – including heating, ventilation and air-conditioning work – at its two elementary schools. The school board will consider a resolution at its meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday in Room 105 of the high school.
As of Friday, the resolution indicated that the bond also would pay for roofing, parking and other repair work at the Claysville and Joe Walker elementary schools. Claysville Elementary currently has air-conditioning, but Joe Walker Elementary does not.
If the bond proposal is approved, the district would establish a sinking fund through Wells Fargo Bank in Philadelphia, and the bonds would be issued in denominations of $5,000.
Scott Burchill, business administrator, said “the scope of the project is still up in the air.” He said the board will weigh options for both the project itself and payment schedules. He said there potentially could be a millage increase, depending on the amount of state funding that is available.
