Wilma Havanis
Avid reader, excellent baker
Wilma Havanis, 81, of Carmichaels, died Sunday, November 24, 2013, in her home.
She was born May 1, 1932, a daughter of the late Calvin and Emily Schmidtke Smitley.
On July 31, 1954, she married Leonard Havanis, who died December 5, 1994.
Mrs. Havanis was a retired garment worker for Greenway Manufacturing in Waynesburg.
She resided most of her life in Carmichaels and attended Mather Christian Church.
Mrs. Havanis was an avid reader and an excellent baker. She enjoyed playing bingo.
Surviving are a daughter, Susan R. Machesky of Carmichaels; two grandchildren, Heather Hunnell and Ryan Havanis; two great-grandchildren, Olivia Hunnell and Kyleigh Ann Havanis; a sister, Emily Henrish of Carmichaels; and a brother, Elmer Smitley of Waynesburg.
Deceased are a son, Robert A. Havanis; a beloved granddaughter, Kaitlyn Machesky; two infant sons, Ronald Leonard Havanis and Brian Scott Havanis; three brothers, Herb, Art and William Smitley; and three sisters, JoAnn Paulson, Pauline Burich and Gert Krieger.
Friends will be received from 1 to 4 p.m., the time of services, Friday, November 29, in Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, with the Rev. Reagan Fike officiating. Private inurnment will be in Greene County Memorial Park, Morgan Township.
