Deadline approaching to enter Christmas parade

WAYNESBURG – The Waynesburg Area Chamber of Commerce is reminding residents and organizations that the entry deadline for the 2013 Downtown Waynesburg Christmas Parade at 2 p.m. Saturday is approaching.
The early entry deadline is Nov. 20 with an entry fee of $10 per unit. Late registration entries will be accepted before Nov. 26 with an entry fee of $20 per unit.
No entries after Nov. 26 or the day of parade will be accepted. Anyone wishing to participate in the parade who did not receive an application is asked to contact the chamber office at 724-627-5926 or visit www.waynesburgchamber.com to register for the event.
The execution of the parade is underwritten by Greene County Tourism. Miss Rain Day 2013, Stephanie Mitchell, Miss Rain Day 2013, and the chamber’s 2013 Distinguished Service Award winners, Tim Hawfield, Jeff McCracken representing the late Johnny McCracken, and members of the Greene Community Church, will have the honor of leading the parade down High Street as it’s grand marshals.
Once again Waynesburg University’s campus television station, will be videotaping the parade for a later broadcast on local stations. WCTV is a student operated television station under the direction of Bill Molzon.
Residents living around the college and parks are reminded that lineup will begin in that area at noon on parade day.
Several streets will be blocked off to traffic not associated with the parade starting at noon and ending at 3:30 p.m.
Route 19 traffic will also be detoured during those hours. High Street, from McCracken’s Pharmacy to the First Baptist Church, will close beginning at 2 p.m. and will remain closed until the parade concludes. A detour route will be available.
