Former federal building in Pittsburgh to become hotel

PITTSBURGH (AP) – The former Federal Reserve Bank building downtown Pittsburgh will be turned into a hotel.
Crews will begin remodeling the building this month, and Drury Hotel Co. says they plan to turn it into a 180-room hotel by the end of next year, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
Joe Pereles, vice president of Drury Hotel Co., estimates the project will cost $30 million. The company is based in St. Louis, Mo.
Drury is scheduled to go before the Pittsburgh Zoning Board of Adjustment on Nov. 21 to obtain approval to place two projecting signs on both sides of the building. Architects aren’t sure what use can be made of the four basement bank vaults.
