Teegarden’s Restaurant, as we call tell from magnification of this photo from the Observer-Reporter’s archives, sold lunches, cigars, tobacco and ice cream. What we don’t know about this week’s Mystery Photo is where the restaurant was, when the picture was taken and who the people in the photo are.

From the style of dress, we would guess the photo was taken around 1900. Among the few clues: a brick street, an electrical transformer on the utility pole, and a tree with leaves similar to rhododendron.

Teegarden, in its various spellings, is a fairly common name throughout Washington and Greene counties. We’re hoping some proud owners of that name or other of our readers can help us solve this mystery.
