ERIE (AP) — Two Catholic schools in western Pennsylvania have received a $10 million gift.

Officials from Cathedral Preparatory School and Villa Maria Academy announced the gift Tuesday, the Erie Times-News (http://bit.ly/1czjO0l ) reports.

The Rev. Scott Jabo, president of both schools, says a former student who wishes to remain anonymous made the gift, which is the largest in the schools’ history.

The money will be used to fund ongoing renovations at both campuses in Erie, to renovate the library at Cathedral Prep, and for work on a gymnasium.

The work is expected to begin in 2014.
