Korean War veteran was W&J employee

Frank Allison Phillips Sr., 83, of East Finley, died Friday, December 6, 2013, in his home.

He was born May 25, 1930, in East Finley, a son of the late Lawrence Phillips and Anne Engle Phillips.

Mr. Phillips was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War.

For 29 years, he was the assistant manager of the maintenance department for Washington & Jefferson College.

He loved to sing and play his guitar and was an avid deer hunter.

On September 13, 1951, he married Aylea Darma Lilley Phillips, who survives.

Also surviving are a son, Frank (Tonya) Phillips Jr. of East Finley; two daughters, Linda (John) Lane of Mechanicsburg and Norma Jean (James) Cessna of Shippensburg; six grandchildren, Stacey (Brian) Barnard, John (Danelle) Cessna, Frank (Lynn) Cessna, Carla (Scott) Alaskey, Matt (Mary) Lane and Amanda (Jason) DeLorenzo; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, are two brothers, Harry and Lawrence; and six sisters, Martha, Helen, Mary, Frances, Shirley and Patty.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 11, with Pastor Michael Singo officiating. Burial will follow in Claysville Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by Edwin Linton Scott Post 175 of the American Legion.
