LANCASTER, Pa. (AP) – A central Pennsylvania man has been arrested after authorities say he held a pillow over his girlfriend’s face because she refused to go to church with him.

Lancaster police said Thursday that 22-year-old Rusty James Leighty has been charged with simple assault and making terroristic threats after the alleged incident on the morning of Nov. 24.

WGAL-TV said the woman told police Leighty held a pillow over her face and threatened her with a knife when she declined to accompany him to Sunday church services.

She was checked out at Lancaster General Hospital and released.

There was not a listed phone number for Leighty and he could not be reached for comment.
