PLAIN CITY, Ohio (AP) — A central Ohio father was jailed after State Highway Patrol troopers say he drove away without talking to authorities about running over his 4-year-old son who had fallen out of their van.

Union County jail records said 30-year-old Natividad de Jesus Hernandez of Columbus has been charged with failure to exchange information after an accident — a third-degree felony.

Trooper Jeremy Allen said a hearing for Hernandez Friday morning was postponed because of a language barrier. No attorney information for him was available.

The patrol said 4-year-old Angel Gustbabo Hernandez fell out the van his father was driving Thursday morning near a construction site in Union County, northwest of Columbus. Troopers say the boy was run over by the vehicle and taken to a hospital, where he died.
