Every January, Scots celebrate the birthday of poet Robert Burns with gatherings called Burns Suppers. The Macdonald Pipe Band of Pittsburgh mark the occasion in grand style Jan. 18 at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church Hall, 123 Gilkeson Road, in Mt. Lebanon. Doors open at 5 p.m.; dinner is at 6 p.m.

In addition to a spoken tribute to the 18th-century poet and songwriter, the evening includes a Scottish repast featuring steak pie and haggis and performances by the Macdonald Pipe Band under the leadership of Pipe Major Hernan “Bud” Brizuela. The band fundraiser includes a Scotch whiskey basket raffle and a 50/50 raffle.

For tickets or more information, visit www.macdonaldpipeband.net or call 412-835-3997. Deadline to order tickets is Jan. 10.
