William Dennis Hannen, 67, of Washington, died Wednesday, January 15, 2014, in his home.
He was born April 15, 1946, in Washington, a son the late Larry and Genevieve Flynn Hannen.
Mr. Hannen was a graduate of Washington High School and California University of Pennsylvania, where he earned a bachelor of liberal arts degree.
He was a computer programmer for California University for 30 years.
Mr. Hannen served in the U.S. Army from October 14, 1965, until his honorable discharge October 13, 1968, with a rank of Specialist, Fifth Grade. He was awarded a National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
He was a member of Keystone Club, Arms Club and American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175, where he served with the honor guard.
Surviving are sisters Sherry Hannen of Washington and Janet Hannen of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; nieces and nephews Michael Sells, Bryan Sells, Kaleb Hannen, Travis Hannen, Ashley Lacks, Mason Hannen, Desiree Harps and Brock Harps; and great-nieces and great-nephews Bailee Lacks, Marquese Lacks, Tyseani Lacks, Shylanae Lacks, Jordan Dudley and Julian Dudley.
Deceased is a brother, Fred “Crab” Hannen.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, January 21. Burial will follow in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township. Military rites will be accorded graveside by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175.
