A Bentleyville man was arraigned Wednesday on charges including rape of a child for allegedly sexually assaulting a 12-year-old boy over a two-year period beginning in June 2010.

Anthony Capodieci, 71, of 6 Liberty St., is charged by state police with three counts each of rape and statutory sexual assault, nine counts each of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child and corruption of minors, and 18 counts of indecent assault.

The boy told state police he met Capodieci while working with him in the Eighty Four area. The 12-year-old told police the two became friends and started spending time together, particularly at Capodieci’s home between June 2010 and December 2012.

The boy alleged that Capodieci started by holding his hand and trying to kiss him, then had the boy engage in sex acts. Capodieci also allegedly performed sex acts on the boy.

The boy told police that these acts happened every other time he was at Capodieci’s house, and that he was at the Bentleyville home at least twice a month.

In an interview with state police at the barracks in Belle Vernon, Capodieci allegedly confessed to having sexual relations with the boy.

Capodieci was arraigned before District Judge Curtis Thompson and released on $50,000 unsecured bond. A preliminary hearing is set for Wednesday before Thompson.
