Pearl Opal Gwynn Ross

Pearl Opal Gwynn Ross, 87, of Carmichaels, died Saturday, December 8, 2012, in Rolling Meadows Nursing Home, Waynesburg.

She was born June 11, 1925, in Rices Landing, a daughter of the late Frank and Rosa Cales Gwynn.

On December 13, 1941, she married Lawrence “Larry” Ross, who survives.

Also surviving are a son, Dan Ross (Claudia) of Glenshaw; two daughters, Lynda Beatty (James W.) of West Union, W.Va., and Missy Vamosi (Tim) of Linwood, N.J.; a sister, Reba Peters of Avon Park, Fla.; two brothers, Eugene Gwynn (Sandy) of Rices Landing and Richard Gwynn (Nancy) of Dry Tavern; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Deceased are a brother, John Albert Gwynn, and two grandchildren.

Mrs. Ross was a member of First Christian Church in Carmichaels and Christian Women’s Fellowship and was a deaconess emeritas at the church.

She was also a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, Greene Academy Chapter, where she served as chaplain. She enjoyed playing dulcimer with the Greene Academy of Art dulcimer players.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Lesako Funeral Home Inc., 204 Dowlin Avenue, Carmichaels, PA 15320, 724-966-5100, Paul M. Lesako, owner/director/supervisor. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 12, in First Christian Church, Carmichaels, with the Rev. Reagan Fike officiating.
