Lillian Gloria Standiford

Lillian Gloria Standiford, 96, of Washington, died Sunday, December 30, 2012, in Washington County Health Center, Chartiers Township.

She was born October 20, 1916, in Marianna, a daughter of the late George and Mary Martinelli Doria.

A 1934 graduate of Washington High School, she was a lifelong member of Fairhill Manor Christian Church, formerly Second Christian Church.

Mrs. Standiford had worked as a secretary in the Washington High School office, retiring in 1980.

She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and a 50-year member of Chapter 409 Order of Eastern Star. A Sunday school teacher, she was a member of the Christian Women’s Fellowship and choir, and was active in the church camp.

She enjoyed reading, sewing, crafts, crocheting and crossword puzzles.

On April 28, 1936, she married Earl Weir Standiford, who died February 6, 1995.

Surviving are a son, Grant (Carol) Standiford of Brandon, Miss.; three daughters, Eva Lou (Fred) Engle, Rolinda Sprowls and Sharl (Thomas) Burk, all of Washington; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Doria of Washington; 14 grandchildren, Stephen (Helene) Engle of Colorado, Joyce (Carl) Brandtonies, Matthew (Beth) Engle, Julie (Eric) Meier, Kristie Sprowls of Belle Vernon, T.D. (Tami) Sprowls, Darci Sprowls, Brad (Kris) Sprowls of Florida, Cynthia (Jon) Ault, Lori Riggle of Meadville, Jordon Burk, Cori (Scott) Newman, Tara (Chris) Griffing of Mississippi and Erinn (Jim) Rawlings of Tennessee; and 17 great-grandchildren, Megan and Robert Engle, Elysa Engle of Colorado, Cameron and Colby Meier, Brandon Lipscomb of Ohio, Bella, Weyland, Gunner and Roman Rawlings of Tennessee, Olivia and Lily Kate Griffing of Mississippi, Garrett, Wyatt and Waylon Newman, and Katie and Matthew Thompson of Meadville; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are a daughter, Karen (Robert) Riggle, who died September 6, 2012; six brothers, August, Carl and Alfred Caltuna and George, Todd and Earl Doria; and four sisters, Rose Menegus, Lena Pietkiewicz, Louise Pearce and Mary Doria.

Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 3, 2013, in Fairhill Manor Christian Church, Washington, with the Rev. Michael Lehman officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray. Memorial contributions may be made to Fairhill Manor Christian Church, 351 Montgomery Avenue, Washington, PA 15301, or Donnell House, Hospice Care of the Washington Hospital, 155 Wilson Avenue, Washington, PA 15301.
