Free law seminars to be held

Free seminars will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. May 1 at the Washington County Courthouse as part of the Washington County Bar Association’s celebration of Law Day.
The three-hour program will address a variety of topics in half-hour segments. Registration is requested by calling the Bar Association at 724-225-6710. Those registered by April 30 who attend the entire three-hour program will receive a certificate of attendance.
For the first half-hour, starting at 6p.m., Washington County President Judge Debbie O’Dell Seneca will present an overview of the court system. At 6:30 p.m., attorney Josh Camson will address the U.S. Constitution and the protection of rights, including voting rights.
At 7 p.m., highlights of energy and property laws will be presented by attorney Tom Vreeland. At 7:30 p.m., attorney Joe Zupancic of the district attorney’s office will address criminal law issues including driving under the influence, drugs and gambling. At 8 p.m., attorneys Gene Julian and Steve Moschetta will discuss “tort law,” or the civil wrongs resulting in harm, such as personal injury medical malpractice and auto law. At 8:30 p.m., attorneys Mark Geary and Susan Key will examine estate planning topics and documents such as trusts, wills and powers of attorney.
The seminars are free and open to the public. Teachers will receive three Act 48 credits at no charge but must pre-register online at www.solutionwhere.com/iu1. Continuing Legal Education credit is available for attorneys at an additional cost.
