Washington Health System recently recognized 225 volunteers with a luncheon and awards ceremony at the DoubleTree by Hilton, Meadow Lands.

Volunteers donated more than 59,700 hours in 2013. “We’re Blooming with Appreciation for You” was the theme of the ceremony.

The auxiliary was recognized for continuing to be the hospital’s largest donor, donating more than $5.3 million to the hospital during its existence.

Special recognition was given to Bette Johnson, Pat O’Connor and Jane Piatt, who each received 5,000-hour pins. All three are gift shop buyers and work at the visitor’s information desk.

Volunteers who reached milestones were presented year pins. They were Carol Adler, 45 years, who had volunteered in the medical library and with special projects before recently retiring; Louise Hickman, 35-plus years, patient mail volunteer; Susan Boone, 30-plus years, gift shop volunteer; and Ruth Stein and Elizabeth Sevec, 25-plus years, gift shop.

Volunteers who were recognized with hour pins were Nancy Wright, 9,500; Fran Cicero and Ruth Ann Porter, 9,000; Inez Shriver, 8,000; Janet Trozzi, 7,000; Kathleen Cage, Jane Hunt and Lu McWreath, 6,000; Connie Bristor, Sue Pomykala and Nancy Silvis, 5,500; Phyliss Santee, 4,000; Janet Holmes, Mattie McKenzie and Susan Priest, 3,500; Catherine Gennocro and Rosemarie Quayle, 3,000; Karen Belleville, Pat Ferrari, Carl Fleissner, Della Hritsko and Pat Ondash, 2,500.
