Peters Township High School graduate Kelsey Cunningham had three hits in two games to tie the school record for career hits as Washington & Jefferson swept a Presidents’ Athletic Conference women’s softball doubleheader from Thiel, 9-1 and 6-3, Friday.

Cunningham, a senior shortstop, moved her career hits total to 181, matching Amanda Howard’s record.

Jen Bahm drove in four runs in the opener for the Presidents (10-4, 18-8), while Madison Rotto got the win.

Abby Cunningham and Rotto drove in three runs each in the nightcap, while Krista McCartney earned the win.

Matt Flannigan, who doubled in the first game, took the loss in the nightcap for Thiel (5-9, 12-18).

• Alex Sagl won her 14th game and Stephani Ellis homered as California won the opening game of a PSAC doubleheader against Gannon, 6-4, then took the nightcap, 9-1.

Sagl improved to 14-2 on the season for the Vulcans (16-0, 23-4), while Ellis drove in three runs in each game.

Kirstie Cortazzo homered for Gannon (7-9, 14-16) in the opener.

Katie Davis pitched a five-inning two hitter in the nightcap, while Shelby Lia doubled and homered, driving in three runs and scoring three times.

Avella scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, but it was not enough as the Eagles fell to Sewickley Academy, 8-3, in a Section 1-A game.

Savannah Henry earned the win for the Panthers (5-1, 5-1) after striking out 10 batters. Kira Doaks hit a double for Avella (2-3, 2-5), while Sunnie Liggett and Lauren Knight knocked in two of the Eagles’ three runs in the bottom of the seventh.
