County reveals online parks survey
Those who use Washington County parks – or those who are interested in the future of the parks – are invited to fill out an online survey at a website dedicated to the park planning process for Mingo Creek, Cross Creek and Ten Mile parks.
The web address is www.wacountyparksplan.com.
Some questions from the 19-point survey involve: past park use; quality of facilities; participation in recreation programs or special events; needs to be met, ranking of needs, adequacy of current park facilities; reasons that prevent someone from using parks, recreation and sports facilities or programs used more often; preference for program time slots; and satisfaction with activities and programs.
Lisa Cessna, Washington County Planning Commission director, said that those filling out the survey do not have to be Washington County residents, even though one of the questions is, “How many years have you lived in Washington County?”
The website also has information about the planning process, details on input received so far, and options to provide comments apart from the survey.
The next public meeting on the future of the parks is scheduled for 6 p.m. May 15 at Washington County Fairgrounds. Cessna said the format will be a two-hour open house so people can see “a first draft of what is reasonable” based on discussions that took place at the introductory meeting in early March.
A final draft of the parks plan is due June 13, and the deadline to submit a final report to the Washington County commissioners has been set for July 3.
