A Canonsburg woman accused of setting fire to her shirt while being detained at the Monongahela police station earlier this year waived her case to court after charges of arson and causing or risking a catastrophe were withdrawn by the prosecution.

Sarah Ann Maloni, 47, of 164 Valley Road, was being held in a cell at the station on an intoxication charge when she allegedly set fire to her shirt using a lighter police said she had concealed. Police put out the fire with an extinguisher. Smoke had to be cleared from the cell.

A charge of reckless endangerment was added during the proceeding in Central Court Wednesday before District Judge Curtis Thompson. She also will stand trial on charges of possessing instruments of a crime and institutional vandalism.
