The VP-75 class of the outboard performance craft category of the American Power Boat Association will debut in New Martinsville, W.Va., during RegattaFest Sept. 22-24.

The crafts are runabout-style boats with a minimum length of 13 feet and a minimum weight of 900 pounds. This class uses stock production engines with a maximum piston displacement of 49 cubic inches and reaches speeds over 65 mph.

Eight boats plan to race in New Martinsville, vying for the City of New Martinsville Cup. With the tradition of fast water and record-setting opportunities, the class is also preparing to compete on Friday, Sept. 22 for the quarter-mile course record.

RegattaFest also includes land-based activities on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 23-24, with a Kids’ Zone that includes train rides, inflatables, games and shows. A vendor area includes crafts and food. Both will be sent up in Fireman’s Park in downtown New Martinsville.
