Marjorie J. Mitchell
Marjorie J. Mitchell, 99, of Graysville, passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at McMurray Hills Manor, McMurray.
Born May 23, 1924, in Graysville, the daughter of the late Albert T. and Bernice Ealy Staggers.
Marjorie was a Greene County resident her entire life. She graduated from Richhill High School in 1942. She went on to receive her general business degree from Penn Commercial in Washington. Marjorie was a member of Graysville Unity Presbyterian Church.
She married Edward L. Mitchell on November 21, 1943, and they were happily married for 44 years, until his passing on October 12, 1988.
Marjorie was employed as a cashier at Unimart for 15 years until her retirement in 1998. She was the former owner of Staggers-Kimmel and Mitchell Store, in Graysville, which later became Mitchell and Baldwin.
Marjorie was an avid gardener; her tomato plants were an obsession. She enjoyed cooking and canning.
At the time of Marjorie’s passing, she was under the direct care of Gateway Hospice, who took very good care of her.
She is survived by two children, James “Butch” (Susan) Mitchell of Dublin, Ga., and Beth (Phil) Conklin of Prosperity; four grandchildren, Michael (Cathy) Mitchell of Dublin, Ga., Brianna Carey of McRae, Ga., Autumn (Lowell) Abbadini of Prosperity and Jeremy (Amanda) Conklin of Canonsburg; six great-grandchildren: Mitchell Carey of Savannah, Ga., Chandler Carey of McRae, Ga., Landon Carey of McRae, Ga., Reid Conklin of Canonsburg, Beckett Abbadini and Jada Abbadini, both of Prosperity; and her sister, Marilyn Baldwin of Graysville.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Kenneth Baldwin.
Friends and Family will be received from 11 to 1 p.m. on Friday, August 18, 2023, at Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC., 3275 W. Roy Furman Hwy., Rogersville, PA 15359. Telephone: 724-499-5181, where the funeral service will be held directly after at 1 p.m., with Pastor David Lowe officiating. Burial will follow at Rosemont Cemetery, Center Township.
