Joyce Darlene Dawson, 73, of Amwell Township, died Friday, September 8, 2023, in Transition Healthcare, Washington. She was born October 31, 1950, in Washington, a daughter of the late Clyde Vernon and Virginia Mae Wood.

She graduated from Trinity High School and then from Irene’s Beauty School in Washington.

She worked as a housekeeper at Dean’s Laundromat and then at the former Humbert Lane, now Transitions Healthcare, for 30 years before retiring in 2017.

She was a member of the Amwell Township Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary. She enjoyed the Washington County Agricultural Fair. She was a member of Amity Methodist Church.

She is survived by sister, Donna Carpenter; stepdaughter, Sandra (Raymond) Cook; stepson, Phillip “Todd” Dawson; four stepgrandchildren and three stepgreat-grandchildren; nephew Blair Carpenter II; a great-niece and five great-great-nephews and nieces.

Deceased, in addition to her husband, Mike Dawson, and parents, is brother, Billy Carpenter.

Family and friends will be received from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, September 11, in the Nichol Funeral Home, 1873 E. Maiden Street, Washington, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 12, with the Rev. Linda Mankey officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
