M. Althea King, 97, of West Alexander, West Finley Township, died in her home, Friday, October 27, 2023, after being in failing health for the past 10 years.

She was born September 17, 1926, in Burnsville, West Finley Township, a daughter of the late Charles Bentley and Viola Phillips Clutter, had resided in West Finley Township all her life and was a 1944 graduate of the former Claysville High School.

Mrs. King was a member of the Dallas, W.Va. United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Friendship Club and was a member of the Friendship Club Bowlers.

She and her late husband were collectors of antique gasoline engines and participated in several shows in the Tri-state area, and both were members of the Stumptown Steam Thrashers in New Athens, Ohio, where she once served as the parade queen.

Mrs. King enjoyed listening to music and attending square dances as long as her health permitted.

She and her late husband were the co-owners and operators of the former King Lime and Fertilizer in West Alexander for over 30 years.

On July 21, 1946, she married Alva Lee King who died March 1, 1991.

Surviving are two daughters, Madalyn King of North Huntington and Connie King with whom she shared her home; a son, Larry King of Kinsman, Ohio; seven grandchildren: Kenny, Brian and Joseph King, Jennifer Beatty Hancher, Erin Beatty Sprowls, Greg Snyder and Michel Snyder Abercrombie; 11 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Joann Bruno of Triadelphia, W.Va.; several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband are six brothers, Herbert, Donald, Harlan, Wayne, Lemoyne and Reed Clutter; and two sisters, Mildred Hughes and Norma Jean King.

Friends and family were received from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, in the Dallas, W.Va., Community Presbyterian Church, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, October 30, 2023, with Reverend George Crawford officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. View Cemetery, Dallas, W.Va.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the charity of your choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC, Rogeresville.
