All revved up: Trinity motor sports groundbreaking

A  career and technical education class launched WHEN at Trinity High School WHEN aims to get students’ motors running. 

The Power Motorsports class is a comprehensive career readiness program where students learn how to maintain and operate a variety of machinery and equipment, including motorcycles, snowmobiles and all-terrain vehicles.

In addition, students will learn how to effectively diagnose and repair outdoor power equipment, ATVs and UTVs, along with cars and light trucks.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Monday, when the WHAT building was introduced to the public. 

The ribbon cutting even also included the unveiling of the the high school vet tech lab and Trapuzzano Greenhouse. 

The power motorsports program and the vet tech program are among nine Career and Technical Education programs offered at the high school.

Students in the Power Motorsports class will learn through project-based activities that cover intake components, exhaust systems, fuel injection and carburetion, electrical systems, lubrication, valve train components, and internal engine components. In addition, students will study the theory of operation of diesel engines and their advantages and applications.

IN THIS REGION, POWER SPORTS ARE A MAJOR RECREATIONAL ACTIVITY.

The school district has worked closely with New Castle School of Trades and Universal Technical Institute, with which the school has articulation agreements.

CTE courses offer students the opportunity to develop critical skills through a combination of classes and the application of hands-on learning experiences, which allow them to apply academics to real-world problems.
