Antone Baker had 28 points and 10 rebounds, sparking Waynesburg to an 89-81 win at Bethany in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference opener for the Yellow Jackets on Saturday.

Waynesburg (1-0, 3-1) shot 58 percent and placed five players in double figures. P.J. Suggs had 16 points, Jordan McLoyd tallied 12 and Bryson Wilt and Jaylen Davis each chipped in 10.

Bethany had only six players score and each finished in double figures, led by Cole Dailey’s 18 points.

Chatham 74, Washington & Jefferson 70:

Elijah Sutton scored a game-high 33 points and Chatham used a big edge at the free-throw line to beat visiting Washington & Jefferson 74-70 in a PAC game.

Chatham made 26 of 33 free throws compared to W&J’s 16-for-31. Sutton was 15-for-17 at the line.

Nick Gearhart’s 23 points paced W&J (1-1, 2-3) with 23 points. Matt Seidl followed with 16 and Josh Chambers had 11.

Women’s results

Chatham 80, Wash & Jeff 69:

Ashlie Louden scored a game-high 29 points and made six of Chatham’s 12 three-point field goals, as the Cougars dealt Washington & Jefferson its first loss, 80-69, Saturday in a PAC contest.

Chatham led 34-26 at halftime and pulled away for a 62-42 lead after three quarters.

Meghan Dryburgh paced W&J (1-1, 3-1) with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Jaden Wan scored 10 points.

Bethany 98, Waynesburg 79:

Lindswey Garrison scored 22 points, Alyssa Serensky added 21 and hot-shooting Bethany defeated visiting Waynesburg 98-79 in a PAC game.

The Bison shot 52 percent from the field and made 12 three-point field goals. They scored 61 first-half points.

Waynesburg (0-1, 0-4) made 15 three-pointers and were led in scoring by Kalista Friday’s 19 points. Mia Henkins tossed in 18 and Kara McFadden had 14.

The Yellow Jackets have lost 16 consecutive games dating back to last season.
