Trinity clinches share of title; Bentworth’s Daniels wins 100th

Trinity clinched a share of the Class 3A Section 5 championship with a 45-20 victory on Wednesday night at West Allegheny.

The Hillers improved to 4-0 in section action and 7-0 overall. Trinity can wrap up the section title next week when it hosts Waynesburg.

The Hillers’ Dom Canali (121), Blake Reihner (139) and Bodie Morgan (172) won by fall.

The Indians’ Logan Slovic recorded a pin in 5:58 at 133.

Bentworth 54, Fort Cherry 23

Bentworth’s Vitali Daniels earned his 100th career victory and the Bearcats dominated the light and middle weights in a 54-23 victory over Fort Cherry in Class 2A Section 1.

Daniels became the 14th wrestler in Bentworth history with 100 career wins when he pinned his opponent in 40 seconds in the 189-pound bout. It was one of seven pins by the Bearcats. The others were by Drake McClure (121), Bryce Crowson (139), Owen Ivcic (145), Racer Lister (160) and heavyweight Alex Rusilko.

Fort Cherry’s Chas Rush (152) and Braeden Welsh (172) won by fall.

West Greene 48, Washington 12

West Greene took advantage of six forfeits in a 48-12 victory over Washington in Class 2A Section 1 action.

The Pioneers’ Levi Yeater earned a fall in 1:15 at 145 pounds. Teammate Brice Smith pinned his opponent in 52 seconds at 152.

The Prexies’ Caleb Patton won by fall in 1:15 at 139.

Burgettstown 45, Beth-Center 19

The Blue Devils clinched at least a share of the Class 2A Section 1 championship in a 45-19 victory over Beth-Center.

Burgettstown’s Dylan Slovic (127), Parker Sentipal (133), Rudy Brown (152), and Joey Baronick (285) won by fall.

The Bulldogs’ Noah (172) and Jake (215) won by fall.

McGuffey 49, Jefferson-Morgan 21

The Highlanders clinched a spot in the Class 2A team tournament with a 45-21 victory over Jefferson-Morgan.

McGuffey’s Lane Ealy (114), Ethan Wolfe (121), Lucas Barr (127), Garrett Newman (139) and Reid Teagarden (172) won by fall.

The Rockets’ Chase Frameli (160), Brock Bayles (189) and Landon Heath (285) recorded pins.

In other matches:

Bethel Park was a 33-28 winner over Canon-McMillan in Class 3A Section 6. Peters Township was a 41-27 winner over visiting Mt. Lebanon in Class 3A Section 6. Belle Vernon rolled to a 42-28 victory over Elizabeth Forward in Class 2A Section 2.
