The Wild Things announced Monday that they have re-signed outfielder Wagner Lagrange for a third summer in Washington.
A native of the Dominican Republic, the 28-year-old Lagrange was a free agent after the 2023 season ended and has been re-signed to a one-year contract.
Lagrange has been one of the Frontier League’s top hitters in each of the past two seasons.
In 2022, he was fourth in the Frontier League in hits, second in doubles and fifth in batting average.
Last summer, he batted .304 with 25 doubles, 19 home runs, 69 RBI and 10 stolen bases. His 29 doubles ranked fifth in the league and his 196 totals bases were seventh.
Lagrange reached the Class AAA level in the New York Mets’ farm system. In five seasons with the Mets he played in 411 minor-league games and had a .291 batting average.
The Wild Things open their season at home May 10 against the Schaumburg Boomers. The Frontier League will hold its annual open tryout and player draft April 22-23 at Wild Things Park.
