A Pittsburgh man taken into custody early Thursday on charges stemming from an assault and robbery last month in Charleroi was arraigned later in the day on drug and trespass charges stemming from an April incident.

Jordan M. Wilson-Johnson, 22, was arraigned before District Judge Mark Wilson on charges of robbery, aggravated assault, simple assault and theft for allegedly assaulting and robbing George Hughes outside a bar in the 700 block of McKean Avenue in Charleroi in the early morning hours of May 29.

Hughes’ girlfriend initially reported the incident to Charleroi Regional police because he was receiving treatment for his injuries at Monongahela Valley Hospital. Hughes told police he had gone to an automated teller machine and withdrew $80 as his share of the rent. He also had about another $50 on him when he went into MD’s Bar to buy cigarettes and a soft drink.

Hughes told police that Wilson-Johnson challenged him to a fight, but that he ignored him. Wilson-Johnson then reportedly punched Hughes. After other patrons pulled Wilson-Johnson off, Hughes left the bar.

Hughes started walking down the sidewalk when Wilson-Johnson came up from behind and assaulted him, knocking him to the ground. He reportedly continued kicking and punching Hughes, then took his money. Police reviewed surveillance from in and outside the bar that confirmed Hughes’ version of the assault.

Wilson-Johnson was arraigned by video from Washington County jail before District Judge Larry Hopkins on charges of possession of heroin and paraphernalia and criminal trespass after he and his girlfriend, Diamond Jackson, 20, of Charleroi, were found inside a home on Sixth Street, Charleroi, April 23.

Jackson waived her case to court on similar charges Thursday before Hopkins.

Wilson-Johnson was placed in jail on $100,000 bond on the robbery-related charges. Hopkins set an additional $100,000 bond on the trespass and drug charges.
