A South Strabane Township man arrested earlier this month for firing numerous shots at mailboxes in a township neighborhood is facing more charges.

Township police filed four counts of reckless endangerment and criminal mischief Monday against Gregory J. Fino, 33, of 1040 Magnolia Drive. Police filed the additional charges at the office of District Judge Jay Weller Monday after additional damage was discovered on Donnan, Patten and Clearfield avenues.

Fino was initially arrested on charges of reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct, criminal mischief and traffic violations.

Fino was taken into custody in the early hours of June 8 after police received reports of shots being fired near the 1600 block of Donnan Avenue and 100 block of Patten Avenue. As Sgt. Drew Hilk arrived in the area, he heard three gunshots that appeared to come from a car that was stopped on North Main Street at Donnan.

The vehicle pulled away and was stopped on Hillcrest Avenue with assistance from Washington police. After Fino was ordered out of the vehicle, police could see empty shell casings from a .308-caliber rifle on the driver’s door and an automatic handgun between the front seats. An AR platform automatic rifle and two .308-caliber magazines also were found inside the vehicle.

When Fino was briefly questioned by police, he told them he was merely testing his weapon and not shooting at anything specific. He also told police that he chose the location because it was “rural” and close to his home.

Fino is free on $100,000 bond awaiting a preliminary hearing Monday before Weller.
