The Washington County commissioners learned that the South Wade Avenue bridge replacement project over Chartiers Creek near the electrical substation in Washington will now cost $1,564,600, and on Thursday they approved a supplemental reimbursement agreement with the state Department of Transportation.

Planning Commission Director Lisa Cessna said she plans to seek bids this summer, but the project, funded 80 percent by federal taxpayers, 15 percent by state taxpayers and 5 percent by county taxpayers, could start late this year or in the next construction season.

A sewer line near the bridge needs to be moved, and the commissioners approved a $11,332 supplement to its contract with HRG Inc. to design the relocation. Eight percent of the revised contract total of $323,142 will be paid by state taxpayers while the remainder will be paid for from county liquid fuels revenue.
