CHICAGO – Monica Abbott threw a two-hitter with nine strikeouts as Chicago kicked off a three-game series with the Pennsylavania Rebellion with a 2-1 victory in a National Pro Fastpitch game Thursday.

Sarah Pauly was nearly as good for the Rebellion (5-18), allowing just four hits. But one of those was a two-run homer by Kristen Butler in the bottom of the first inning that provided the Bandits (14-9) with all the runs they would need.

Britney Lindley and Samantha Garcia had the only two hits for Pennsylvania. Lindley’s hit was a triple in the third inning. She later scored on a groundout by Bianca Mejia.
