Gale Courses, formerly known as Learn4Life, will become available through the local public libraries July 16. Gale Courses offers patrons access to hundreds of instructor-led online courses covering everything from Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, health and wellness, creative writing, computer programming, GED test preparation and much more.
Courses are developed by expert instructors, many currently working at universities around the country, and have continuous enrollment dates. The course catalog offers something for everyone.
Courses run for six weeks, with two new lessons being released weekly (for a total of 12), and new sessions beginning every month. The courses are entirely web-based with comprehensive lessons, quizzes and assignments. A dedicated professional instructor coordinates every course by pacing learners, answering questions, giving feedback and facilitating discussions.
Library card holders can enroll and participate in courses from library computers or remotely from their home computer. There is no cost to the library patron for these courses. To get a public library card, stop by the Eva K. Bowlby Public Library in Waynesburg or the Flenniken Public Library in Carmichaels.
For more information on the catalog of courses offered or to enroll in a course, residents should visit the library websites or www.greenecolib.org and click on the Gale Courses icon.
