Hundreds race in 77th Soap Box Derby

AKRON, Ohio (AP) – Hundreds of racers have given their all in the 77th All-American Soap Box Derby in northeast Ohio.
The Saturday derby in Akron featured competitors from the United States and other countries competing for a share of $28,500 in scholarships.
Thirteen-year-old Mason Breeden of Culpeper, Virginia, won the Local Stock championship. Thirteen-year-old Emerson Minch of Cleveland won the Local Super Stock Division, and 17-year-old Campbell Conrad of Arlington, Massachusetts, took first place in the Local Masters Division.
Twelve-year-old Dylan Theisen of Tallmadge won the Rally Stock Division, and 12-year-old Sabrina Engleman of Troutville, Virginia, took first-place in the Rally Super Stock Division. Sixteen-year-old Daniel Raulli of East Syracuse, New York, was named winner in the Rally Masters Division.
This year, 495 racers competed in the downhill competition of gravity-powered cars.
